Beginner Drawing

Develop basic drawing skills in a simple and disciplined manner. Learn perspective, composition, foreshortening, anatomy, line quality and shading through the use of still lifes, masters, and figure studies.

Colored Pencil, Ink Drawing & More

Explore a variety of techniques in colored pencil, ink, and mixed media. Through class projects, demonstrations, and individual instruction, the instructor will help students build on their skills, strengths, and interests with an emphasis on helping each student develop their own individual style.

Students will have the option of working on class projects or working independently on projects of their own choice.

  • Colored Pencils (Any brand, recommend at least the 36 pack of Prismacolors with an additional henna, cool and warm greys and colorless blender)
  • Bristol drawing paper  (smooth or vellum)
  • #2 pencil
  • Kneadable eraser
  • Micron or other brand pigma pens sizes: 005, 01 and 02
  • Portable pencil sharpener (battery preferred)
  • 12 inch ruler
  • Round stencil brushes
  • Turpenoid or solvent and q-tips

Additional supplies will be discussed during the first class.

Pastels

Explore color through pastels at a beginner and intermediate level. Use traditional pastels as you learn how to mix colors and layering processes. Create still lifes and landscapes using a photo reference. Expand your skills through demonstrations and personal instruction.

Required:

  • Pastel-toned paper with colors (pad or individual sheets)
  • Pastel boards or sanded pastel paper (your choice of drawing surface)
  • Pastels: Sennelier, Nu Pastels, Rembrandt or Great American
  • For paper sheets you will need masking tape or bull clamps, and a drawing board that is larger than your paper. 
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Soft vine charcoal

Optional:

  • Pastel pencils
  • Cookie tray
  • Dish towel or rags
  • Wet wipes 

Beginner Colored Pencil

Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw with colored pencils but didn’t know where to start? During this condensed four-week class, students will be introduced to techniques essential to drawing with the colored pencil medium. The class will consist of two separate projects, helping the students establish a necessary foundation on which to expand their skills.

Cooking for a Cause
Volunteer Meal-Making Class

This class is offered for $9, and 100% of the registration fee goes to buying groceries for this donated meal. Cook with the Baker Hunt Chefs and help us support the Emergency Shelter of NKY’s mission by providing dinner to their clients, while learning about cooking, knife skills, food safety, and more. Feel free to bring canned goods or other non-perishable items to add to the meal as appropriate. Volunteers must be 16+.

Please wear appropriate Kitchen attire (i.e., closed-toe shoes) and bring a hat or other hair covering.

Mini Chefs – Cooking Family Dinner

Kids Cook with Chef Jeri Kubicki and prepare dinner for their family! Mini-Chefs prepare scratch cheese shells with marinara sauce, and green bean salad! Kids make enough for a family of four to take home and share! Class is for youth ages 9-12.

Science of Candy – Dragon’s Beard

Join Chef Jason Baum for a class on the Science of Candy! You’ll learn about cooking sugars to different stages for creating different types of candy, and you’ll make Dragon’s Beard Candy! This class is for students ages 9-12 paired with an adult.  Purchase one “seat” per adult/child pair.

Wine Making at Home

Join Chef Jason Baum for a beginner’s course in Wine Making. Learn the basics of brewing wines, meads, and beers at home, without breaking the bank. Learn to set up your own brewery at home, gain knowledge of a variety of tools and products that will help with the hobby, and gain some experience with it by making your own wine to take home and ferment.  Class for students ages 21+. Fermentation jug, bubbler, sanitation sprayer and batch of must are yours to keep!
