Beginner Colored Pencil

Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw with colored pencils but didn’t know where to start? During this condensed four-week class, students will be introduced to techniques essential to drawing with the colored pencil medium. The class will consist of two separate projects, helping the students establish a necessary foundation on which to expand their skills.

The Beauty of Watercolor

Explore colors that dance, glide and in some cases splash onto the paper. Learn how to paint with watercolors and create special masterpieces. Investigate techniques including dry brushing, layering, and many more. Discover art history that is intertwined with the lessons.

Discover the basics of using a sewing machine. Practice cutting, pinning, and sewing seams, then learn how to make your own pet pillow! No sewing experience is necessary.

Let’s Begin Drawing

What is “looking”? Can you really see? How do you transfer what you see to what you are drawing? In this class, we will demonstrate the various techniques of drawing using the textbook Drawing on the right side of the brain. At the end of each class, students will share their work with the class and talk about the creative process from their point of view and their individual self-expression.

Mindful Art 1

Work in various art mediums while learning how to practice mindfulness.  Begin class with a guided meditation, followed by an art project using a different medium each week, including small projects with watercolors, weaving, and clay. Learn how to practice mindfulness not only in your artmaking, but in your everyday lives. No previous art-making or mediation experience is required.

Weird Science 1

Welcome to the Weird Science Class, where we will be making Magnetic Putty, Jell-O Play Dough, and Ooblek Impact Slime! We will take a look at the chemistry of the ingredients, the change in chemical structure as they are mixed, and how the physics of the mixtures change when they are used.

Sketchbook Illustration

Never be intimidated by a blank sketchbook page again. Learn how to fill up a sketchbook and the importance of sketchbook journaling. Investigate different collage techniques, while trying different art mediums such as watercolor, paper collage, acrylic paint, and many other mixed media techniques. Create and express yourself through illustration!
